ERIKA RENDON-KAHLER – Vice President | Director of Community Involvement

Otherwise known as ‘The Rain-Maker’ to her business associates today, Erika was raised in humble beginnings by her two immigrant Columbian parents who traveled from South America to Ontario, Canada to give their children a better life, education, and more importantly opportunity.

As a young immigrant female living in Canada, Erika never let the opportunity go to waste, regularly working 2-3 night jobs and on weekends to pay for her own post secondary education.

During that time, Erika grew a special fondness and connection with the elderly, as her earliest memories of caregiving were with her grandfather who lived with Parkinson’s Disease. The impact of his disease and his life prior to his ailments have stayed with her and she has dedicated her entire adult life to teaching and caring for the elderly.

Rendon-Kahler has worked in many facets of the healthcare system as a Social Worker in Long Term Care, Retirement and most recently with the acquisition of a Home Care Agency in the Barrie Ontario region.
The Comfort Keepers brand and business have allowed her to advocate for the most vulnerable populations and she continues to educate her staff, families and the community on the needs of those she serves.

Hockey, as you can imagine, was never a real love for her until she met fiancé Troy Kahler. His passion for the game, pro experience in player development and ability to assist as a Certified NHLPA Affiliated Player Advisor “is magnetic”, she says. “The joy it brings him and our family is ‘MY WHY’ when it comes to ownership of the Muskoka Shield Junior A Hockey Program & Academy of Hockey Canada.” Erika also plays an instrumental role in community outreach initiatives across Muskoka and strives to ensure these young players continue to give back to the community that supports them and cheer them on week after week. “The community provides us with a place to play we can call our Hockey home, The Home of The Muskoka Shield.”
