Anthony was born in Toronto and played 7 years of minor hockey in the GTHL AAA level for the Don Mills Flyers, Jr. Canadiens, Vaughan Kings and North York Rangers. Anthony advanced to the Junior level lacing up the skates for 5 seasons for the Toronto Moose, Innisfil Lakers, and the South Muskoka Shield. During this span Anthony was a 3 time All-Star, and was consistently on the top of the charts in leading all defensemen in points. After retiring as a player Anthony began coaching in the GMHL for the Lefroy Wave before moving on to coach the South Muskoka Shield and in that season earned the right to coach in the 2013 All Star game. As an Assistant coach the previous 4 seasons with the Shield Anthony was tasked with running the team’s defensemen, powerplay, video analysis, scouting and using his various contacts to assist in player advancement. Anthony is a seasoned veteran of the GMHL and his experience and knowledge of the game and the league are an asset to our hockey club and our players.
Michael is the younger brother of Head Coach Anthony Gambacorta. Michael began his Junior career with the Lefroy Wave before playing for the Shield from 2012/13 to 2014/15. Michael played 165 games in the GMHL and amassed a whopping total of 191 points. Michael was an offensive defenseman & we are excited to see him pass on his knowledge of the league and the defense position. Michael's main role will be working with our defensemen.
